It is difficult to determine the exact number of South Indians living in the diaspora as there is no comprehensive data on the ethnic background of individuals outside India. However, it is estimated that there is a large South Asian diaspora around the world, including a significant number of people with roots in South India.

In countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, South Asian communities, including those from South India, have grown significantly in recent decades, driven by factors such as immigration, economic opportunity, and education.

According to the United Nations, there were approximately 33 million South Asian migrants living outside of their countries of origin in 2020,

although it is not possible to determine the number of South Indian migrants specifically from this data.
